Miami is much more than the exotic palm trees and white sandy beaches you see in films and television. Miami is a community rich in history, entertainment and unique cultural events. There are so many opportunities to explore our “Magic City” and fall in love with your surroundings.

FIU’s main campus, the Modesto A. Maidique Campus, is ideally situated in park-like surroundings 20 minutes west of downtown Miami. While FIU is beautiful, it is serious about academic excellence. FIU is in the top category of research universities in the United States. The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching placed FIU among institutions engaged in “Highest Research Activity.” Only two percent of universities have attained the status.
